STONES OF REMEMBRANCE

This morning I listened to Saddleback Church's preaching delivered by Teaching Pastor Stacie Wood, and she spoke about the stones of remembrance in Joshua 3-4.

After the people successfully crossed the Jordan River on dry ground, Joshua directed each of the 12 tribes to set up a stone that will serve as a memorial of God's mighty power.

This memorial is for their children so that they will know that the Lord is powerful, and so that they worship only Him.

This is what Joshua told the people:

Years from now your children will ask you why these rocks are here. Tell them, "The Lord our God dried up the Jordan River so we could walk across. He did the same thing here for us that he did for our people at the Red Sea, because he wants everyone on earth to know how powerful he is. And he wants us to worship only him." (Joshua 4:21-23, CEV)

I would like this blog to serve as a record of my Stones of Remembrance, for there are many miracles that the Lord has done in my life --- and I am sure, in yours too --- that we must tell our children about. And there are two reasons for this, as Joshua said. First, so that everyone will know how powerful God is. Second, so that we will worship Him only.

I pray that this blog will reach not only my children and future grandchildren but many others who have their own Stones of Remembrance to write about. Let's all declare that God is powerful and that we must worship Him, and Him only.
