Diary entry: March 2, 2022
"If you're not dead, God's not done."
I first heard this quote from John Ortberg in his message and the book "All the Places to Go ... How Will You Know?" It's one of those thoughts that have stayed with me since the first reading, and it keeps repeating in times like these.
I had a second heart attack, and I'm still here at Delos Santos Medical Center. Fresh from my second angiogram, thank God I didn't need angioplasty this time. And am still fascinated by the pulsating universe of blood vessels leading to the heart that I saw in real-time, through the camera that's invisible to me because it's too tiny.
Oh, the stent the doctor placed six years ago (first angiogram) is still doing its job of keeping the coronary artery open, the blood flowing, and me alive.
And yes. God sent an angel to the hospital's blood bank. Her name is Sally. I haven't met her in person. She responded to a short Facebook request that I posted when I asked for a blood donor who matched my AB+. She just showed up at the blood bank, had herself screened, and she donated.
How can anyone think of all these and deny the existence of God?
God infused that breath of life directly into us, as shown by the creation story. That is our mission order from God. And for as long as the heart beats, our mission continues.
He makes our lives intersect with able doctors and caregivers just at the right time and place, so we can serve each one, serve others, and in the process, serve God.
It's a beautiful life.
Thank you God.
